Nishino-Yakushido (Jumanji Temple)

Nishino-Yakushido (Jumanji Temple)

This temple was reportedly established by Priest Soshin, the offspring of Emperor Tenchi's son, Prince Otomo. The temple was lost in a fire during conflict with the Azai Family. The Healing Buddha, the Eleven-faced Kannon and Twelve Heavenly Generals were protected by villagers and are now kept here. These images convey the beauty of the statues of the Heian Period and have stayed in the quiet Nishino village surrounded by rice fields.
