Kanzanji Temple

Kanzanji Temple

The hondo (main hall), kyodo (Buddhist sutra library) and shoro (belfry) stand among the forest. Many treasures are kept here, including a copper bell, designated by the national government as an Important Cultural Property. It's engraved with an image of Fudo Myoo (the God of Fire)
and a pair of wooden Komainu (guardian dogs). Tradition says that Michizane Sugawara was brought up as a child of a celestial nymph here.
