Daitsuji Temple

Daitsuji Temple

Popularly known as "Gobo-san," it is the branch temple of the Otani Sect of Shinshu. Its main building and hall are the remains of Fujimijo Castle in Kyoto. The side gate was also moved from Nagahama Castle. In its spacious precinct, a magnificent garden and many other attractions are laid out. It is easy to feel the splendid atmosphere with many portraits hung. The Asebi Bonsai Exhibition is held here. Asebi, a kind of azalea that is observed between early Feburary and late April, heralds the arrival of spring in Nagahama City.
