Chikubushima Island (Hogonji Temple・Tukubusuma Shrine)
One of the Eight Noted Views of Lake Biwa, the island plays host to Hogonji Temple, one of the three Benzaiten (Goddesses of Fortune), and Tsukubusuma Shrine, both of which retain treasures of dazzling splendor from the Momoyama culture of the 16th century as well as preserve ancient beliefs that combine Buddhism and Shintoism.
